Former Rob Ford Campaigner Signs on as Campaign Strategy Manager for 2014 Toronto Mayor Candidate Dewitt Lee III

(Toronto, ON- March 5, 2013)- 2010 Toronto Mayoral candidate Dewitt Lee III, has appointed Tiffany Ford, a young community leader and former campaigner from Rob Ford's winning bid for Mayor as a senior member of his campaign strategy advisers.

In 2010, Mr. Lee joined the mayoral race 7 months into the campaign and long after the front runners were established, he broke through the clutter of candidates and finished 12th out of 55 competitors.
"During 2010 we were focused on running an efficient and effective campaign, to make sure we didn't do anything that would jeopardize our ability to run again," explains Lee III.
No longer new to the experience and with a much larger and diverse support team, Lee feels much more comfortable in focusing on the message of hope, prosperity and transparency from all city run organizations.

Mr. Lee choice of Tiffany Ford, a young ambitious community member into his 2014 campaign strategy team is evidence that he wants the youth to feel involved, engaged and responsible for their city by giving them an opportunity.

The theme is taken from a famous quote by the late former Prime Minister Maurice Bishop, who was killed in a historical political coup in 1983.

The quote is symbolic to the direction of Grenada Day Festival, and the connection that  all Grenadians share due to the severe impact of the events of 2004 with Hurricane Ivan's devastation on the island; damaging 90% of the isle of spice. Grenadians still suffer today from economic hardship, the lost of their thriving agriculture, and the mass movement of people who became refugees in other countries. Grenadians across the Diaspora and at 'home' are moving forward and rebuilding for a better future. Grenada Day Festival wants to acknowledge the story of the island's history, whilst celebrating its future.   

Grenada Day Festival is the largest Diaspora celebration, with over 6,000 people attending each year in Toronto, Canada for a full day of of live performances, music, arts and craft, food, activities for the whole family and more.

The Grenada Day Festival celebrates the culture and people of the island of Grenada, and its sister islands; Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
